Thanks to so many donations from across Idaho, the nation and the world since the Fund’s inception in 2000. This generosity has resulted in more than $123,000 in grants awarded to organizations benefiting Idaho youth. The grants listed below have been distributed over the past four years.





2008 to 2009: $35,000

  • Idaho Mountain Search & Rescue Unit, Inc.: $3,900 for youth mountain safety training and for the purchase of new equipment.
  • Treasure Valley Family YMCA: $4,900 to promote interest in rock climbing and mountaineering for Treasure Valley youth.
  • Boise Philharmonic: $4,900 to facilitate greater access to symphony music by supporting the Verde Percussion Group’s outreach program for children.
  • Area School Districts (Caldwell, Kimberly, Meridian, Parma, Shoshone and Wendell): $1,000 each to purchase musical instruments for underprivileged elementary, middle school and junior high students.
  • Boise School District: $1,500 to assist Boise elementary and junior high students to rent music instruments.
  • Idaho Botanical Garden: $1,000 to support field trips for children with special needs.
  • Boise State University Music Department: $6,900

•  $4,900 to provide scholarships for junior and high school students to attend the 2009 Summer Chamber Music Camp

•  $2,000 to provide scholarship assistance for upper division or graduate voice majors who have demonstrated promising operatic potential and academic merit.

  • Boise State University Art Department: $4,900 for the Brian Patrick Meier Photography Scholarship for upper division or graduate photography majors who have demonstrated outstanding photography promise and academic merit.
  • Idaho Shakespeare Festival: $1,000 to support live, interpretive theatrical performances for young, deaf and hearing-impaired students.

2007 to 2008: $33,000

  • Treasure Valley Family YMCA: $6,000 to promote interest in rock climbing and mountaineering for Treasure Valley youth
  • Boise State University Music Department: $5,000 to provide scholarships for promising junior and high school students to attend the 2008 Summer Chamber Music Camp
  • Boise State University Art Department: $5,000 for the Brian Patrick Meier Photography Scholarship, for an upper division or graduate photography major who has demonstrated outstanding photography promise and academic merit.
  • Boise Philharmonic: $5,000 to facilitate greater access to symphony music by supporting their outreach efforts to children
  • Opera Idaho, Inc.: $1,500 to facilitate greater access to opera by supporting their outreach efforts to children
  • Meridian Optimist Club: $1,000 to assist underprivileged students in joining the Club’s Youth Rifle Program and assist the Club in sponsoring a distinguished rifle member to compete at a regional or national rifle competition
  • Boise School District: $2,500 to assist underprivileged, Boise elementary and middle/junior high school students to rent music instruments
  • Rural School Districts (Cambridge, Council, Glenns Ferry, Gooding, Grangeville, Melba, Weiser): awarded $1,000 each to purchase needed musical instruments for underprivileged elementary and/or middle-intermediate students

2006 to 2007: $30,000

  • Treasure Valley Family YMCA: $5,500 to promote interest in rock climbing and mountaineering for Treasure Valley youth
  • Opera Idaho, Inc.: $2,700 to facilitate greater access to opera by supporting their outreach efforts to children
  • Boise Philharmonic: $3,000 to facilitate greater access to symphony music by supporting their outreach efforts to children
  • Boise School District: $2,500 to assist elementary and junior high students in renting music instruments
  • Kuna School District: $7,800 to purchase a bassoon and timpani
  • Boise State University Music Department: $3,000 to provide scholarships for junior and senior high school students at the 2007 Summer Chamber Music Camp
  • Boise State University Art Department: $5,500 to establish the Patrick Meier Photography Scholarship – Boise State University’s first photography scholarship for an upper division or graduate photography major

2005 to 2006: $10,000

  • Treasure Valley Family YMCA: $3,000 to promote interest in rock climbing and mountaineering for Treasure Valley youth
  • Opera Idaho, Inc.: $1,000 to facilitate greater access to opera by supporting their outreach efforts to children
  • Boise Philharmonic: $1,000 to facilitate greater access to symphony music by supporting their outreach efforts to children
  • Boise School District: $1,000 to assist elementary and junior high students in renting music instruments
  • Meridian School District: $1,000 to assist elementary and junior high students in renting music instruments
